Who can you trust? This question is often asked by, probably… everyone.   I, Lisa, just attended a seminar titled “The Truth About Trust”.   This seminar is the first course level in Ambassadors for Trust, designed from the heart by Vanessa Hall.   Vanessa is from Australia and came to Uganda (and to many other nations around the world) to teach this to organizations in order to help them learn how to understand “TRUST”. Seasons Seasons. We, in Northern Uganda, are now well into the rainy season.   Everything has miraculously turned from the golden yellow of dead grass, and the constant haze of dry dusty roads and walking paths, to various shades of green. Almost overnight!   And now even the flowers are starting to bloom.   The grass grows faster than you can slash it back down again. In our lives we also have seasons. Some seem to be dry and dusty and very hot. Yet just below the surface is life. And all it take is a little water for everything to come back often even bigger and better than before. We, Keith and I, have been through many dry seasons. We have made deep friendships like family then suddenly we experience the death of them that drives us into a dry hot season.   We have struggled and sometimes toiled and seen great fruit then suddenly there is another dry season. Happy New Year It has been entirely too long since we have written on our blog.   So, let me do so now. We have just entered into the 2015 year. As the years pass by we begin to realize how important each moment really is.   What are we doing with our minutes, hours, days and years?   We are in the States right now until March 3 rd .   We enjoyed the precious and valuable time we have had with our family members.   Keith’s mom is now 81 years old, but still very sharp, although a couple of falls have caused her have to use a walker for assistance.   My Dad is now 83 and he too, strong and sharp.   But these days we have with them are short and then we will be gone for another year to Uganda. Our children and grandchildren are growing in the Lord and changing as well.   We have had lots of time with them and it seems still not enough.   Yet… As wonderful as it is to be with family, our hearts and minds are always go...

Three Days On Feb. 3 rd , the children of the village began the new school year.  This is a very important year for Sanctuary of Grace Christian Academy because we are beginning our P7 class.  This will make us a full Primary school and we will also be registered this month with the Government as an official Private Christian school. The day began with the pleasant baritone ring of the brass school bell at 6:30 am after being silent for the two months of holiday.  Soon the compound was teeming with activity. There were children of all ages and sizes with fathers, mothers,  grandparents and aunties, who had come to register their children.    The missionaries were in the midst of all this working with the teachers to make sense of all the organized chaos.  All in all it was a delightful day.  The children were all clean, dressed smartly and happy to be back. Our Call Missions Yearly Report for 2013 The Coggin Family started the year 2013 while in the States on furlough.   Our Home church that had sent us out over 11 years ago, made the decision to no longer be a sending church and ended the support for its missionaries.   As difficult and painful as that was for us, we quickly learned that the Lord had a plan.   Within a week He led us through a series of faithful friends, to a new church, Bay Community Church.   During our first meeting with the Senior Pastor, Jerry Taylor, we all believe that it was God’s will for Bay Community to be our new spiritual covering while we serve abroad. The new school year for Sanctuary of Grace Christian Academy started in February and we moved into the sixth grade (Primary 6 or P6). We registered 50 new pupils into the Kindergarten (5 year olds). We also hired two new teachers. The school we helped start in Kitgum had reached the Grade 2 level in February.   But...

Today was the day set aside to encourage our teachers and prepare them for the third term of school.  We have 13 teachers who are all very dedicated to serving the Lord and doing their best to instill into the children a Christlike worldview. We started out with prayer and Keith shared from Ezekiel 33, reminding them that they are watchmen over the children, that they are very responsible for what goes into their minds and how it is put there.  We are so grateful that here in Uganda our children are not so exposed to the world of media and entertainment. There is less competition for their minds and hearts.  We do face the challenge of traditional ways, ancestral worship, and witchcraft in the beliefs of their parents. But we know that the Holy Spirit will overcome these. We ended the meeting with each of the teachers making a list of the children in their class. They will take the list home and pray over each child by name, personality and family situation. First of ...

In this current world of globalization: such as Facebook, internet, digital...everything,cell phones, jets, etc.,  the world seems so connected. Yet deep in the bush, in remote villages of Northern Uganda and the new country of South Sudan there are tens of thousands of children who know only their surroundings and learn only what they live day to day.  As both of these countries have suffered decades of war, globalization is an unknown concept.  Is that a bad thing? Eleven years ago, Keith and I came to Uganda as the Lord had called us to do. We gladly left behind our country, culture, family, lifestyle, etc. As we look back over those years here in Uganda, there are too many events, relationships made and some broken, lessons learned, heartaches and heartbreaks, and joys and blessings, to count. But one thread has remained the same... The children. The children are the roots of the next generation.  What are they learning? What will they become? Getting down ...
