Letter for Support #1

Dear Facebook friends,
For the last several years, we and the ministry in Uganda, have gone through many changes. That’s a very broad statement and all these changes are too many to explain, so let’s just skip down to the time we have been back in the United States.

When we changed our residence from Uganda to Alabama in October of 2019, the call to create and develop Roots to Fruits Christian Curriculum (R2F) for African schools did not change. In fact, we believe that the Lord called us back so we could gain a larger team to work together
to complete it and distribute it.

At present, we work with the R2F Missionaries team in Uganda, who are Therese Macfarlane, Cathy Morris and Karen Odel. Also, the Ugandan teacher trainers for R2F, Joseph and Daniel. The team in the United States are the prayer supporters, financial supporters, and writers, Rachel Kolb, Kelly Kremkau, and the format/editor—Belinda Brown. We are asking the Lord to add more writers and formatters, prayer supporters and financial supporters to this team.

Upon arriving in the States, we started our re-entry adjustments such as setting up phone and internet, finding a place to live, buying a car, etc. Generally, just learning how to live in the United States again. Then the year 2020 happened. We did not have enough financial support to continue life here so, Keith had to get a job. With him working full time, the work of the ministry fell to me, Lisa.

As we are emerging from the craziness of the past two years and are beginning a routine of ministry and work, some changes in Uganda have also affected the ministry. The schools in Uganda were shut down for two years and the government began to enforce new laws on Non- Governmental Organizations (NGO’s) like ours, which would put the Roots to Fruits curriculum in a perilous situation.

We prayed and ask God what we should do, and He clearly answered.
We are to close out Our Call Missions and come under the umbrella of Global Outreach International (GOI) which is a mission 'agency' instead of what we were under before with Harvest Alliance, which is a ‘facilitator'. The difference is GOI has an international presence all over the world and we can license R2F under the international status.

There are 42 schools using R2F presently, ...but we have a big problem.

Out of the 7 grade levels in the Ugandan Primary school system, Roots to Fruits curriculum is completed through the 4th grade. The schools using it will need the next grade level in 2023. But in order to accelerate the development of R2F and get it printed in time for these schools to get it by then, we must raise an additional $3500 a month in support.

The good news is that an anonymous supporter has pledge to match that amount halfway. There are three new members of this team whose support equals $235 a month, leaving us with the need of $1515 more a month.

Please prayerfully consider joining this team of Roots to Fruits missionaries, writers, and supporters in order to reach that goal and get this Christian curriculum for Africa into the hands of teachers. Let’s work together to evangelize and make disciples in the classrooms of Africa!!
